The Legend of Maula Jatt is soon to release in India
The much-awaited Pakistani film, The Legend of Maula Jatt, has finally been lined up for release in India. The film was released in the year 2022 and headed an all-star cast of Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, and Gohar Rasheed. Special appearances of Babar Ali and Resham added to the film’s excitement. Despite developing cold feet first because of copyright disputes, and then the COVID-19 pandemic, it went on to prove a blockbuster in Pakistan, shattering many box-office records and grossing over 200 crores.
The film, The Legend of Maula Jatt, written by Nasir Adeeb and directed by Bilal Lashari, continues to ring the registers at the box offices of cinemas in Pakistan. Different extremist outfits scuttled its release in India a few weeks back. But now, the same film will hit theatres in India on September 20, 2024, under the banner of Zee Films.
This is definitely set to be a big one, considering the fact that it is actually two years late following its global release. Everybody, from fans to those watching the industry, is waiting with nerves turned to know if the film will finally make it to the Indian theaters or are there still more roadblocks up ahead. With an upcoming release, hopefully this is an auspicious sign for across-the-border cinema, helping bridging audiences and giving more Pakistani filmmaking talent a bigger platform.
